The document ‘Information on voluntary price reductions for medicines without change of national code as of 5 January 2026’ consolidates company requests to lower ex‑factory prices so that presentations align with the lowest price in their group, under the reference‑pricing rules of Royal Decree 177/2014 and the broader framework set by Royal Legislative Decree 1/2015. It lists, for each presentation, the current industrial price, the new reduced price and the corresponding homogeneous group code that will apply in the February 2026 official nomenclator of the National Health System (Sistema Nacional de Salud, SNS).

The January 2026 procedure follows the now standard monthly cycle. Around the beginning of the month, the ministry publishes a provisional file and opens a three‑working‑day window – in this case from 8 to 12 January – during which marketing authorisation holders can request voluntary cuts without changing the national code, either to comply with article 96.6 requirements or to match the lowest group price. At the end of the window, the ministry validates the requests and issues the definitive list of authorised reductions, which feeds into the next nomenclator update.

The current list, dated 5 January 2026 and published on 8 January, applies only to presentations for which companies have opted to reduce their industrial price; it does not change the reference‑price structure itself, which remains governed by the annual system‑wide order.

The January round of price changes in 2026 requires companies to reposition prices within homogeneous groups and limit co‑payment or loss of prescriptions where a competitor’s low bid has reset the reference. It signals to pharmacies and distributors which presentations will carry tighter margins once the February nomenclator takes effect.
